Russian plane carrying 161 passengers makes emergency landing in Siberia

Moscow, Sep 12 (EFE).- Russia’s Ural Airlines plane with 161 people on board made an emergency landing in a field in Siberia’s Novosibirsk Region without any casualties, the carrier said.

“The Airbus A320 aircraft, operating flight U6-1383 on the Sochi-Omsk route, made an emergency landing outside the airfield. The landing went well, and the crew promptly evacuated the passengers. There were 161 passengers on board, no injuries,” the airlines said in a statement posted on its website.

Images broadcast by Russian television channels showed the apparently intact plane with its evacuation slides deployed in the middle of a field.

All passengers, including 23 children, were evacuated to Ubinskoye village in the Novosibirsk region and will be taken to Omsk, the airline said on Telegram.

The passengers were provided with food and water and have been given their baggage, it added.

The plane had earlier requested to land at the Novosibirsk airport for technical reasons, state-run news agency Tass reported. EFE
