Wonder goal sees Czech Republic defeat Roberston-led Scotland

Sports Desk, Jun 14 (EFE).- Patrik Schick emerged the star for the Czech Republic with a brace against Scotland in the Euros on Monday, including what is likely to be contender for goal of the tournament.

Scotland, captained by Liverpool star Andy Robertson, were unable to live up to the high expectations that have followed them into what is their first major competition in 23 years.

In front of a home crowd at Hampden Park, the Scots brought the game to the Czech Republic in the early stages of the Group D game, with Robertson coming close only for his rocketed shot to be saved by Tomas Vaclik.

Schick responded against the run of play with a header to put the Czechs ahead just before half-time.

The Czechs pressed immediately in the second half. Center-back Jack Hendry tried a shot from range, but it deflected into the path of Schick once again. The forward spotted David Marshall way off his line and launched a curling shot from just inside Scotland’s half, curling beyond the keeper to make it 2-0.

Vaclik was kept busy on several occasions but the Scots were unable to convert their chances. EFE
