Messi says getting along with Mbappe is “easy”

Paris, Oct 9 (EFE).- Argentine star Lionel Messi said that his Paris Saint Germain teammate Kylian Mbappe is “easy to get along with”.

“With a player like him (Mbappé), it’s easy to get along with,” Messi said in an interview with France Football magazine, his first one since joining PSG this summer.

“He also speaks perfect Spanish, so we’ve also talked a lot outside of the pitch. That makes it easy. I have recently arrived and it is still premature to draw conclusions, but I am sure it will go well,” he added.

Messi denied he had advised Mbappe on a potential Real Madrid move as the French club turned down a 180-million euro bid from the Spanish club for the player who wanted to leave.

“I had just arrived and did not know him well enough to give him advice. A bit like everyone else, I was waiting to see what would happen. He stayed and for me it is a great joy,” he added.

Messi pointed out that his departure from Barcelona was unexpected at the moment and showed gratitude to PSG because they were “the team that showed real interest” in signing him.

“Today I am very happy to be here (…) It is a new life experience, a great change and I try, little by little, to adapt,” he said.

“We are still at the hotel and it is starting to get long. The boys (he has three children) have started school and it is not easy to make the round trip from the hotel. We are looking forward to settling into our new house and being able to start the new routine,” he added.

He said he was relieved to win Copa America in July, his maiden title with Argentina, after losing several championship matches.

“I would have had a strange feeling inside of me if I had finished my career without having won a title with my country (…) It was the title that I was missing,” he added. EFE
