Cirque Italia: The Best Water Circus in the World

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Ya muchos habrán tenido la oportunidad de ver el impresionante espectáculo que Cirque Italia ofrece en cada una de sus funciones, pero, en esta ocasión, los residentes de Memphis podrán ver algo distinto y sin igual, ya que el único circo acuático del mundo regresa a la ciudad del blues con una nueva producción, “La Unidad de Oro”.

Teniendo su primera presentación en el 2017, “La Unidad de Oro” es el segundo show en gira de Cirque Italia que se caracteriza por brindar una experiencia de lujo donde la tecnología, las artes escénicas y la precisión humana se combinan creando una perfecta armonía. Y para este año, el show viene totalmente renovado, más grande que nunca, lleno de color y con muchísima imaginación.

“Este año tenemos al mexicano Guillermo Fernández, que hace el salto mortal afuera del péndulo (“The Wheel of Death”) sin malla de protección ni nada; y solamente hay tres personas en el mundo que hacen esto”, dijo Alex Acero, uno de los payasos y animadores de Cirque Italia, durante una entrevista telefónica con La Prensa Latina. “También tenemos a una familia italiana que hace un número de patines en una mesa de tres metros por tres metros; son cinco hermanos patinando al mismo tiempo, que dan vueltas prácticamente en el mismo lugar porque no tienen demasiado espacio”, agregó el artista circense de tercera generación, mencionando a su vez que, además de los actos de malabarismo, láser, acrobacia y trapecio, entre otros, habrá un “stage que hace dibujos”, en donde el agua, cuando cae, dibuja figuras y hasta escribe nombres por medio de efectos computarizados. Sólo hay tres plataformas como ésta en el mundo entero: una en Dubái, otra en Las Vegas y la de Cirque Italia.

En sí, Cirque Italia presenta una variedad de actos que son excepcionales. Para aquellos que disfrutan de la fantasía, hay un Avatar. El gran contorsionista cubano, Ricardo, deja a cualquiera con la boca abierta por la capacidad que tiene de doblar su cuerpo de una forma inimaginable, casi sin límites; un talento que le ha hecho ganar varias medallas en Europa. Por si fuera poco, están los hermanos Fusco, con su increíble acto de juegos malabares. Y aunque Cirque Italia no utiliza animales en sus presentaciones, este año tendrá unas marionetas de elefantes que parecen ser reales.

“Este año hay muchos números grandes y bonitos para que toda la familia se divierta”, aseguró el comediante quien además de hacer reír a la gente, realiza el acto de la llamada “Cama Elástica”.

Siendo un circo de estilo europeo, Cirque Italia se distingue por tener un escenario muy peculiar que soporta 35 mil galones de agua. En adición a esto, una cubierta dinámica se levanta a 35 pies en el aire, lo que permite que el agua caiga como llovizna y que desde abajo se vea como una encantadora fuente o cascada.

En cuanto a los artistas que forman parte de la familia de Cirque Italia, estos provienen de diversos países, como Argentina, Brasil, Bulgaria, Colombia, Cuba, Estados Unidos, Italia, México y hasta Rusia, por ejemplo. Cada uno de ellos destaca ante el público al ejecutar asombrosos actos bajo el agua de manera impecable y casi mágica.

“En Cirque Italia creemos que el multiculturalismo es uno de nuestros activos más fuertes”, expresó Maria Francesca Raggi, una representante del circo, a través de un comunicado de prensa.

Cirque Italia fue fundado e inspirado en el 2012 por Manuel Rebecchi, el sobrino de Moira Orfei, el propietario y el alma del circo más famoso de Italia. Como tal, Rebecchi conoce esta industria como ningún otro. Su pasión, conocimiento y espíritu emprendedor se han combinado para hacer de este circo una experiencia para recordar toda la vida. “¡Quiero que la gente se divierta, disfrute del espectáculo y salga con una sonrisa y las ganas de volver!”, dijo Rebecchi.

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Many have already had the opportunity to see the impressive show that Cirque Italia offers wherever it goes, but this time, Memphians will see something different and unequaled, as the only water circus in the world will return to the home of the blues with a new production, the “Gold Unit.”

Having its first presentation in 2017, the “Gold Unit” is Cirque Italia’s second traveling show that stands out for providing a luxurious experience where technology and human precision are mixed with the performing arts to create a perfect harmony. This year, the show has been completely redesigned and is now bigger, better, and full of color as well as imagination.

“This year, Guillermo Fernandez is with us. His breathtaking wheel of death performance features a front summersault flip, without a protective net or anything like it; there are only three people in the world who can do this kind of act,” said Alex Acero, one of Cirque Italia’s clowns and animators, during a telephone interview with La Prensa Latina. “We also have an Italian family that does a wonderful skating performance on a table that measures three meters by three meters; the five brothers roller skate at the same time in such a small space,” added the third-generation circus artist who also mentioned that besides the laser act, along with the aerial performances, to name just a few, there will be a new “drawing stage,” where an ultra-modern water curtain controls every droplet of water meticulously – audience members can expect to see words and beautiful patterns as the water falls to the ‘lagoon’ below. There are only three stages like this in the whole world: one is in Dubai, the other one is in Las Vegas, and Cirque Italia owns the third one.

Overall, Cirque Italia presents a variety of performances that are absolutely exceptional. For those who enjoy fantasy, there is an Avatar. Richard, the great Cuban contortionist, leaves anyone open-mouthed due to his ability to bend his body in an unimaginable way, almost without limits; a talent that has earned him several medals in Europe. As if that were not enough, the show also features an incredible juggling act by the Fusco brothers. And although Cirque Italia does not use animals in their performances, this year they will have amazing lifelike elephant puppets.

“There are many great and beautiful performances this year for the whole family,” Acero said.

Being a circus of European style, Cirque Italia is distinguished by having a very peculiar stage that holds 35,000 gallons of water. Moreover, a dynamic platform rises 35 feet in the air while “a curtain of rain and fountains glisten with each performance move.”

As for the artists who are part of the Cirque Italia family, they come from different countries, such as Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Colombia, Cuba, the United States, Italy, Mexico and even Russia, for example. All of their impeccable, and almost magical, performances make this a state-of-the-art water show.

“At Cirque Italia we believe that multiculturalism is one of our strongest assets,” said Maria Francesca Raggi, a circus representative.

Cirque Italia was founded in 2012 by Manuel Rebecchi, the nephew of Moira Orfei, the owner and soul of the most famous circus in Italy. As such, Rebecchi knows this industry like no other. His passion, knowledge and entrepreneurial spirit have all combined to make this show an experience to remember for a lifetime. “I want to see people have fun, enjoy the show, and go out with a smile and the desire to come back,” Rebecchi says.
