Inspection of first Ukrainian grain shipment begins in Turkey

Rumeli Feneri, Turkey, Aug 3 (EFE).- Representatives from Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, and the United Nations were inspecting on Wednesday the first grain shipment after it arrived in Istanbul’s Bosporus Strait.

Once cleared, the Razoni cargo ship, loaded with 27,000 tons of corn and sailing under the Sierra Leonean flag, will cross the Bosphorus and sail to Lebanon.

The ship left the Ukrainian port of Odesa on Monday after the four parties signed a landmark deal in Istanbul on July 22 to resume grain exports stuck in Ukraine’s Black Sea ports, which are blockaded by Russia since the invasion began in February.

On Tuesday, Ukrainian infrastructure minister Oleksandr Kubrakov said that there will be more shipments from Odesa over the next two weeks.

“During the next two weeks, we will have one, two or three ships in each direction and I hope that after two weeks when everything is checked, we will have normal navigation along the corridor,” Kubrakov said. EFE
