Fabinho leads Liverpool to 1-0 win over Burnley

Sports Desk, Feb 13 (EFE).- Fabinho on Sunday steered Liverpool to a 1-0 hard-fought win over Burnley to keep chasing Premier League leaders Manchester City.

The home side had several scoring chances in the first half, but a combination of key interventions by Liverpool’s Alisson and rash final touches maintained the scoreless deadlock.

The Brazilian found the back of the net in the 40th minute as a header from Sadio Mane set up a corner by Trent Alexander-Arnold for Fabino’s fifth goal in the last seven games.

This was Mane’s first Liverpool appearance since leading Senegal to win their maiden Afcon Cup title after defeating his teammate Mohamed Sala’s Egypt on a penalty shootout in the final.

After the win, Liverpool remain second on the Premier League table with 54 points, nine behind Manchester City with a match in hand. Burnley, meanwhile, are last with 14 points.

Elsewhere, Wolverhampton prevailed over Tottenham Hotspur 2-0, handing them their second consecutive Premier League defeat after losing to Southampton earlier this week. EFE
