At least 5 people killed in Israeli bombing on UN warehouse in Gaza

Rafah, Gaza, Mar 13 (EFE).- At least five people were killed in Gaza and 22 others were injured after Israeli bombs struck a United Nations aid distribution facility in southern Rafah city of the Strip on Wednesday.

A worker from the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), a policeman, and three civilians were among those killed, emergency service sources told EFE.

Since the conflict began on Oct. 7, at least 162 UNRWA workers have been killed, while 157 of its facilities have been damaged in Israeli offensives across the Strip, the agency reported.

In total, over 400 Gazans have died in Israeli fire while awaiting aid distribution over the past two weeks, according to Hamas official data.

On Feb. 29, more than 100 people were killed and over 750 were injured after Israel bombed hundreds of people awaiting the delivery of humanitarian aid in Gaza City, according to the Hamas version of the incident.

But the Israeli army said that it fired on a crowd that posed “a threat” during food distribution, and that dozens were injured “in pushing and shoving and trampling” after looting trucks with humanitarian aid.

On Tuesday, nine people died and 20 were injured in another Israeli attack on people awaiting the arrival of a humanitarian convoy in Gaza City.

Over the past five months of Israel-Hamas conflict, around 60% of Gaza’s infrastructure, where 2.3 million people lived before the conflict, has been damaged, with only seven of the 23 UNRWA-run health centers remaining open.

Since the conflict began, at least 31,272 Gazans have died, 72% of them women and children, and over 73,000 injured, with around 8,000 still missing, believed to be buried under the rubble of buildings, according to the Gaza health ministry. EFE
