Activists throw cake at King Charles waxwork model
London, Oct 24 (EFE).- Two activists from the platform Just Stop Oil on Monday smeared two chocolate cakes on the face of a waxwork model of King Charles III at the museum of Madame Tussauds in London.
It was the latest in a string of demonstrations calling on the British government to halt the new oil and gas licenses.
“The science is clear. The demand is simple: just stop new oil and gas. It’s a piece of cake,” the two activists said while smashing the cake on the face of the sculpture, which is surrounded by other members of the Royal family.
The anti-fossil fuel campaign group shared a video of the demonstration on their social media, along with some tweets that accused the British monarch of “reportedly abandoned plans to attend and deliver a speech” at the next United Nations COP27 climate summit, which is due to take from November 6 to 18 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
There have been several other protests against the fossil fuel industry in recent days.
On Sunday, two members of the German activist group Last Generation threw mashed potatoes at the Claude Monet painting Haystacks at Potsdam’s Barberini Museum.
Some 10 days ago, two other climate activists of the group threw tomato soup over Van Gogh’s Sunflowers painting at the National Gallery in London before gluing themselves to the walls.EFE
