India, Mexico foreign ministers discuss reinforcing bilateral relations
New Delhi, Mar 30 (EFE).- The foreign ministers of Mexico and India discussed bolstering bilateral ties in New Delhi on Wednesday during the former’s official visit to the South Asian country.
Marcelo Ebrard arrived in the Indian capital earlier during the day, and his three-day visit is expected to conclude on Friday.
Indian foreign minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, in a Twitter post, described the meeting as “warm and productive,” during which they discussed “growing trade and investment, health, science & technology and space sector cooperation” between the two countries.
“Also exchanged notes on our close UNSC cooperation. Congratulated Mexico for taking over Presidency of Pacific Alliance. Our regular engagements will continue providing greater energy to our relationship,” he added.
Ebrard’s agenda in the Asian country is expected to focus mainly on meetings with representatives of the pharmaceutical and technological fields, industries where India is a pioneer.
“Intense agenda focused on cooperation in the pharmaceutical and aerospace fields. (…) I will also hold a dialog on the world situation and new horizons in bilateral relationship,” Marcelo Ebrard tweeted in Spanish earlier in the day.
The Serum Institute of India, the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer by volume; the Indian Space Research Organization; and the Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research are among the institutions Ebrard will interact with, according to his official agenda.
Ebrard’s agenda also includes meetings with Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Mansukh Mandaviya; and Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, among others.
During his three-day stay in the Asian country, the Mexican minister is also expected to travel to the Indian financial capital of Mumbai to meet senior representatives of the Indian multinational Mahindra and the industrial conglomerate Tata Group.
Friday will mark the conclusion of his tour of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and India, in which the Mexican chancellor has sought to promote projects in areas such as tourism, commerce and health. EFE
