Russia sends new artillery to its border, continues attacks in the east

Kyiv, May 13 (EFE).- Russia is sending additional artillery to the Bryansk region, bordering northern Ukraine, to extend bombings on settlements in the Chernihiv region, near Kyiv.

According to the latest report by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published on Facebook this Friday, Russian troops have not ceased in the last hours in their attacks against various regions of the country.

According to a Facebook post General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Russian troops have continued with its attacks in different parts of the country in recent hours.

These offensive operations have been particularly intense in the Eastern Operational Zone, where the Russians continue to seek full control of the pro-Russian regions of Donetsk and Lugansk in the east of the country and of Kherson in the south, which is partially occupied.

The Russians have been trying to maintain a land corridor between these regions and the Crimean peninsula, which Moscow annexed in 2014.

At the same time, the enemy maintains tensions in the Transnistria region of Moldova and Belarus, the Ukrainian General Staff said.

In recent hours, the Russians have not conducted offensive operations in Kharkiv, otherwise heavily bombed over the past few days.

The Ukrainians said their main efforts were concentrated on preventing the advance of Russian troops towards the settlement of Vesele, in the region neighboring the pro-Russian Donestk.

The Russians also continued to launch air and artillery attacks on the port city of Mariupol, along the Sea of Azov.

This offensive focused on trying to block Ukrainian troops holed up at the Azovstal steel plant, which would allow them to establish total control over the city and suppress the resistance. EFE
