Three Palestinians killed in Israeli raid in Jenin refugee camp

Jerusalem, Jun 17 (EFE).- Three Palestinians were killed Friday morning during another Israel Defense Forces (IDF) raid in Jenin refugee camp in the north of the occupied West Bank.

The incident also injured eight others, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. There were no reported casualties among Israeli troops.

The IDF said that soldiers were searching for weapons in the camp when “Palestinian assailants fired heavily toward the soldiers and hurled explosive devices at them. The soldiers responded with live fire.”

“In addition, armed assailants inside a vehicle shot at the soldiers, who responded with live fire to neutralize the assailants,” it said on Twitter.

Local news outlet Haaretz reported witness testimony that said that the three were shot while sitting in the car.

Inside the vehicle, the soldiers found two M-16 rifles, a Carlo submachine gun, loaded magazines and a military vest, the IDF claimed.

As a result of an increase in attacks in Israel since the end of March, the IDF has intensified its raids in the West Bank, with many of these often-violent raids in Jenin camp. EFE
