Zelenskyy: Russia moving fleets away from Ukraine amid increasing attacks

Kyiv, Oct 25 (EFE).- Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday that Russia is being forced to move its air and sea fleets away from the Ukrainian borders due to the growing risk of Ukrainian attacks.

In recent few weeks Ukraine has reported several blows to Russian bases.

“We will not only defend ourselves, but also respond,” Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram account.

“The enemy knows this well. First, they removed the fleet from Crimea. Now they are also moving their aviation further from our borders.”

Zelenskyy’s message came after Ukraine destroyed around a dozen helicopters at two Russian military airfields near the occupied cities of Berdiansk and Luhansk.

Kyiv launched the attack with American long-range ATACMS missiles, making their debut on the country’s battlefield.

Ukrainian forces have also attacked airfields in Russian border regions.

By forcing Russia to move its aviation assets away, Ukraine gains reaction time and raises the cost of some Russian military operations.

Kyiv is applying the same strategy in the Black Sea, where missile and drone attacks against Russian ships and submarines have led the Kremlin to withdraw its fleet to the east. EFE
