12-Year-Old Injured In Shooting Outside Convenience Store in Westwood

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) — A 12-year-old boy was injured in a shooting outside a convenience store on Monday night.
Just before 11:00 p.m., officers responded to an aggravated assault involving shots fired at Royal King convenience store on 850 West Raines Road.
Police were told that three victims were on their way to the convenience store when one of the victims, a 12-year-old boy, noticed someone he knew who goes by the name “Jay-took or Jaylen” and attended Westwood High School with him.
When the boy tried to shake hands with “Jay-took” he and two other suspects drew their weapons.
The three victims then walked back to their Dodge Caravan and got into the vehicle.
As they were pulling off, the three suspects started shooting at the victims.
The victims then drove away down Westmond Road, and the suspects chased the vehicle and continued to shoot, according to police.
Police say the vehicle’s passenger and driver windows were shot out and the 12-year-old was shot in the right arm above the wrist.
The victims drove to a residence on Ledbetter Avenue where they told a relative that the 12-year-old had been shot.
Memphis Fire Department arrived on the scene and took the boy to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in non-critical condition.
Officers arrived on the scene at Royal King and viewed surveillance footage and discovered 31 shell casings in the parking lot.
Memphis Police Department is looking for the three suspects involved in the shooting.
The first suspect had short locs, and was wearing a black hoodie, white pants and white shoes.
Police say the second suspect wore a black face mask, a black bubble coat and black pants.
The third suspect wore a multicolored jacket and pants.

El Departamento de Bomberos de Memphis llegó al lugar y llevó al niño al Hospital Infantil Le Bonheur en estado no crítico.
