ENGLISH:

Patricio González is a Chilean-Argentinian guy, a dream maker, and a Latino from Memphis. “Desires are rips in the thread of reality,” says the tattoo on his left arm. Actually, according to Patricio, “since we were born until our last day we are making our desires based on our beliefs and reactions.”

Patricio became popular in the local Latin community when he went on a hunger strike for nine days to claim against Rep. Cohen, who, after meeting with the leaders of Memphis, left the meeting almost immediately. However, he adds that “my strike was not understood and I realized I had to start battling otherwise.”

In addition to the strike, he had staged multiple actions such as “The Walk Against Fear” and other “crazy” activities, as he calls them, in order to support Hispanics.

What he wants is to fight for Latinos, for immigrants, and for any immigration issue. Patricio said that before he tried to change people or make revolutions. Now, after getting a BA in Philosophy, he discovered and learned that “I will not change them, but I can give them the tools to create a better future and more opportunities.

IA Community Center

Patricio González heads IA, a community center that looks to fight against the impossible: “No one can tell Latino children, the poor, African Americans, women, that they cannot do something.” “The philosophy that everything is possible is what has made advances in technology,” Patricio says.

According to him, he “had trouble getting education and suffered discrimination for being Latino; so this is why I offer help.” What Patricio really wants is to fight for a more cohesive society, with progress and different opportunities.

The AI Community Center offers soccer for boys and girls at the Gaisman Park (4221 Macon Rd), as well as tutoring for students and self-defense classes. Patricio says that there are many surprises and projects for this year and hopes to receive help from many volunteers.
