Palace’s debutant Édouard scores brace to hand Tottenham season’s 1st loss

London, Sep 11 (EFE).- French forward Odsonne Edouard on Saturday marked his Crystal Palace debut with a brace in his team’s 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Following a scoreless first half, Tottenham’s chances were dealt a big blow as English defender Japhet Tanganga was sent off after being booked for the second time in the space of a few minutes at the start of the second half.

British forward Wilfried Zaha gave Crystal Palace the lead in the 76th minute, when he converted from the 12-yard spot after a handball by Ben Davies.

Coming off the bench for the ineffective Christian Benteke, Edouard made his debut in style as he struck twice over a six-minute stretch, doubling the score on his first touch on a close-range effort in the 84th minute and then securing the win in the stoppage time.

Crystal Palace are now 11th with five points, while Tottenham remain on top of the Premier League table with nine points. EFE
