Palestine gives first doses of coronavirus vaccine to healthcare workers

Hebron, West Bank, Feb 3 (efe-epa).- Palestine started its coronavirus vaccine rollout on Wednesday, administering the first doses to healthcare workers.

The Palestinian National Authority received its first 5,000 doses of the BioNTech vaccine from Israel on Saturday.

This comes a few days after the PNA’s foreign minister Riyad al-Maliki told the United Nations Security Council that Israel, as an “occupying power,” must provide Palestinians with the vaccine.

Israel began its vaccination campaign late last year, and has already inoculated almost a third of its 9.3 million population with a first dose. Some 1.7 million people have received the second jab, according to the health ministry. EFE-EPA
