Semi-Truck Driver Intentionally Crashes Into Kroger in Millington, Officials Say

MEMPHIS, TN (WREG) — A semi-truck driver crashed into Kroger in Millington on purpose Tuesday night, city officials say.

A little before midnight, the Millington Fire Department responded to the Kroger on Highway 51.

The driver, identified as 45-year-old Clarence Carter from Nashville, reportedly entered the store and created a disturbance, officials say. He then left, got in his truck, and intentionally drove through the entrance.

MFD says Carter was attempting to leave the scene when officers arrived. He was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody.

Employees were inside the store, but none of them were injured.

Carter was taken to Regional One for medical evaluation. He is in custody and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Vandalism, and Resisting Arrest.

The damaged part of the store has been secured, and the Kroger is open for business.

Un poco antes de la medianoche, el Departamento de Bomberos de Millington respondió al Kroger en la autopista 51.

Según los informes, el conductor, identificado como Clarence Carter, de 45 años y originario de Nashville, entró en la tienda y provocó un disturbio, dicen las autoridades. Luego se fue, se subió a su ttractocamion y atravesó intencionalmente la entrada.

MFD dice que Carter estaba intentando abandonar la escena cuando llegaron los agentes. Fue sacado del vehículo y puesto bajo custodia.

Carter fue llevado al Regional One para una evaluación médica. Está detenido y acusado de dos cargos de agresión agravada, vandalismo y resistencia al arresto.

La parte dañada de la tienda ha sido asegurada y Kroger está abierto al público.
