UK’s Queen Elizabeth II tests positive for Covid-19

(Update 1: Adds details)

London, Feb 20 (EFE).- Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom has tested positive for Covid-19, Buckingham Palace announced Sunday.

The 95-year-old monarch is experiencing mild “cold-like” symptoms and will continue with light duties, the statement added.

The announcement came just 10 days after the queen’s first-born Prince Charles tested positive.

Charles had met with his mother shortly before testing positive but the Queen resumed official duties five days ago. Charles’ wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, also tested positive on February 14.

The queen this year is celebrating her 70th year on the British throne following the death of her father King George VI. Official celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee are due in June.

Elizabeth has received three doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, according to the British press, although her vaccine status has not been confirmed by Buckingham Palace. EFE
