Nearly 1,000 buildings destroyed by Russian bombing in Kharkiv

Lviv, Ukraine, Mar 22 (EFE).- Nearly a thousand buildings have been destroyed by Russian shelling in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, local authorities said on Tuesday.

“As a result of the constant shelling of Kharkiv by the Russian army, 972 buildings were destroyed in the city, over three quarters of which, some 778, were residential buildings,” the city council said.

“The situation in the city remains difficult, the bombing of residential areas does not stop and the rescue services, together with public services and volunteers, continue to clear debris,” it added.

The ongoing, three-week bombing of Kharkiv has claimed at least 500 civilian lives, according to official Ukrainian sources. EFE
