4 killed as train derails in southern Germany

Berlin, Jun 3 (EFE).- Four people were killed when a train derailed in southern Germany on Friday, police said.

According to authorities, the cause of the accident, which occurred near the Alpine ski resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, in Bavaria, is yet unknown.

Dozens of passengers were wounded in the derailment, including 15 people who required hospital treatment due to the severity of their injuries.

Local TV station Bayerischer Rundfunk reported that the accident occurred in Burgrain, just north of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and caused several wagons to come off the track.

The channel added that the train was traveling to Munich. EFE
