At least 7 killed in Russian drone attack in Ukraine’s Kyiv region

Kyiv, Mar 22 (EFE).- At least seven civilians were killed in an overnight Russian drone strike on Ukraine’s Kyiv region, regional military authorities said Wednesday.

“The number of victims has risen. As of 14:30 (12:30 GMT), bodies of 7 people were found,” state emergency service spokesperson Viktoriia Ruban said.

Ruban, who reported four deaths earlier, explained rescue teams were working to remove debris so a further increase in the number of deaths is not ruled out.

Andrii Nebytov, the regional police chief, said in a Telegram post that more than 20 people were admitted to the hospital and five others were still missing.

Shortly after the attack, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the Ukrainian military’s success on the battlefield was the only that would bring peace closer.

“Over 20 Iranian murderous drones, plus missiles, numerous shelling occasions, and that’s just in one last night of Russian terror against Ukraine,” Zelenskyy wrote on Twitter. “Every time someone tries to hear the word ‘peace’ in Moscow, another order is given there for such criminal strikes.”

“The success of Ukrainian forces on the land, in the sky and at sea really brings peace closer and full compliance with the sanctions regime against Russia really restores the force of the UN Charter. Global unity can restore global stability,” he said.

Russia launched 21 Iranian-made drones against Ukraine overnight, of which 16 were shot down, Ukraine’s military claimed in a statement.EFE
