MEMPHIS, TN (WREG) — A 15-year-old is in custody after police say he and two other suspects carjacked a woman at gunpoint in the Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare parking lot on Monday.
The 15-year-old suspect is charged with aggravated robbery, carjacking, evading arrest on foot, and employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
According to Memphis Police, around 5:38 a.m., officers say they responded to Methodist on Union Avenue regarding a carjacking and robbery.
The victim stated she was unloading her belongings from her 2024 Cadillac Lyric, and she walked toward the hospital’s back door with her things.
That is when a red SUV drove past her and three males began to approach her. The suspects each had on dark clothing but one of them wore a red bandana.
One of the suspects reportedly pointed a black handgun at her, demanding her keys and money. The two other males were also armed with guns.
The victim said she complied and gave them her keys and $5 in cash.
The suspects then left the scene in her car, driving southbound on Pasadena Place from the rear parking lot exit.
After officers made it to the scene, they were able to contact Onstar car services and tracked the stolen vehicle in the area of Union Avenue and McLean Boulevard.
Officers say they saw the vehicle speeding away but did not follow it. However, officers received another update on the vehicle, which was in Midtown near Central Avenue and Lamar Avenue.
When officers made it to the scene, the vehicle was found unoccupied.
Just before 7 a.m., police say they located one of the suspects at 1353 Lamar Avenue with the help of additional officers. He was then taken into custody for further investigation.
MPD says they also located a Glock 9mm in the area where the suspect ran from officers.
The other two male suspects are still at large.
