Remnants of Jefferson Davis Statue Removed from Memphis Park
MEMPHIS, TN (LPL/WMC) — Las piezas restantes del monumento a Jefferson Davis fueron retiradas del centro de Memphis este fin de semana.
El parque estuvo cerrado por un breve tiempo el sábado cuando los equipos entraron con maquinaria pesada para quitar la base de la estatua.
La organización sin fines de lucro Memphis Greenspace compró Memphis Park y Health Sciences Park, donde residía el estado de Nathan Bedford Forrest, de la ciudad de Memphis el año pasado.
La estatua de Forrest también fue removida, pero sus restos y los de su esposa todavía están en una tumba en el parque.

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) —The remaining pieces of the Jefferson Davis monument were removed from Downtown Memphis this weekend.
The park was closed for a brief time Saturday as crews came in with heavy machinery to remove the statue’s base.
Non-profit organization Memphis Greenspace bought Memphis Park and Health Sciences Park, where the state of Nathan Bedford Forrest resided, from the City of Memphis last year.
Forrest’s statue was also removed, but his remains and the remains of his wife are still in a tomb at the park.
