Production of Netflix show The Crown paused after death of queen

Los Angeles, Sep 9 (EFE).- The popular Netflix series The Crown has suspended production of its sixth season out of respect following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The show’s creator Peter Morgan confirmed the move Thursday in an email to Deadline, which specializes in Hollywood.

“The Crown is a love letter to her and I’ve nothing to add for now, just silence and respect,” he said.

“I expect we will stop filming out of respect too.”

One of the current shooting locations is the Spanish city of Barcelona, where workers could be seen removing props from the set on Friday morning following Morgan’s comments.

Barcelona was chosen as the filming location to emulate Paris in 1997 as the series tackles the death of Princess Diana.

Based on true stories, The Crown is a dramatization of the life of Elizabeth II and the political events and personal challenges she faced in her 70-year rule.

The latest season in the show is set to focus on Elizabeth’s reign in the 21st century.

In The Crown, the late monarch has been portrayed by Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton.

Buckingham Palace announced the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, informing the public that the monarch had died in the afternoon at Balmoral, the royal estate in Scotland.

The 96-year-old late monarch ruled for 70 years. EFE
