‘Tehran,’ ‘Call My Agent’ top diverse 49th International Emmy Awards
New York City, US, Nov 22 (EFE).- Israeli spy thriller “Tehran” and French comedy series “Call My Agent!” took top honors at the 49th International Emmy Awards in New York City on Monday.
Hosted by Nigerian-American actress Yvonne Orji, one of the stars of the popular series “Insecure,” this year’s International Emmys were especially diverse, with 44 nominees in 11 categories from 24 countries.
Israeli thriller “Tehran,” a series about a Mossad spy on a mission in Iran, won Best Drama Series, the most coveted of the night.
The fourth season of the French series “Call My Agent” was awarded Best Comedy, and “Kubrick by Kubrick,” also from France, won Best Arts Programming.
The award for Best Performance by an Actress went to the Briton Hayley Squires, star of porn drama “Adult Material” and, staying in the United Kingdom, the award for Best Performance by an Actor went to David Tennant, for crime drama “Des.”
The International Emmy for Non-Scripted Entertainment also went to a British show, “The Masked Singer.”
While the most gongs went to the UK and France, the other awards went to Thailand for Best Documentary “Hope Frozen: A Quest to Live Twice,” New Zealand for Best Short-Form Series “INSiDE,” Norway for Best TV Movie/Miniseries “Atlantic Crossing,” China for Best Telenovela “The Song of Glory,” and Israel.
Among the presenters were Scottish actor Brian Cox, Canadian actor Joshua Jackson, American actress and model Vanessa Williams and British actor Chiké Okonkwo. EFE
