Audi to enter Formula One from 2026

Sports Desk, Aug 26 (EFE).- Audi will enter Formula One in 2026 as a power unit provider, the German carmaker announced on Friday.

Audi will be the second Volkswagen-owned luxury car brand to enter the paddock alongside Porsche, which is set to work with Red Bull after the F1 engine changes in 2026.

Although not confirmed, Audi is expected to work with Sauber, currently racing under Alfa Romeo.

“Motorsport is an integral part of Audi’s DNA,” said Markus Duesmann, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, at a press conference ahead of this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix at the historic Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

“Formula 1 is both a global stage for our brand and a highly challenging development laboratory. “The combination of high performance and competition is always a driver of innovation and technology transfer in our industry.

“With the new rules, now is the right time for us to get involved. After all, Formula 1 and Audi both pursue clear sustainability goals.”

The Audi F1 project will be based in Neuburg, Germany. EFE
