12 human bodies found in liberated towns of Ukraine’s Donetsk
Lviv, Ukraine, Oct 20 (EFE).- Ukrainian authorities have found 12 human bodies in the recently liberated neighborhoods of the eastern Donetsk region, regional governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said on Thursday.
Kyrylenko wrote on his official Telegram handle that Russians killed a civilian in the Donetsk region on Thursday.
“In addition, law enforcement officers found 12 bodies of civilians killed by Russians during occupation,” he said.
The governor wrote that eight bodies were discovered in Lyman, two in Novoselivka, and two in Sosnove.
He said it was impossible to count the exact number of casualties in the city of Mariupol and Volnovakha, occupied by the Russians for months.
The discovery of human remains came days after Kyrylenko said authorities in Lyman last week found “a mass grave (of) both soldiers and civilians.”
Ukrainian troops retook Lyman, in the Donetsk region, from Russian control last weekend.
Russia has approved the annexation of Donetsk. However, its troops have not yet managed to maintain control of the area.
Last month, Ukraine claimed to have discovered mass graves with the bodies of 440 people allegedly killed by the Russian army.
Ukrainian authorities also found a dozen alleged Russian torture chambers in the recently liberated territories in the eastern region of Kharkiv. EFE
