Musk vows to make Twitter ‘the most accurate source of information’

New York City, US, Nov 6 (EFE).- Business tycoon Elon Musk, said Sunday that it was his “mission” to make Twitter “the most accurate source of information about the world.”

The billionaire, who took complete control of Twitter last week, has been gradually revealing his plans for the microblogging site.

“My commitment to free speech extends even to not banning the account following my plane, even though that is a direct personal safety risk,” he added, referring to the account of a user who tracks the movement of his private plane (@ElonJet, with 491,800 followers).

In a series of tweets a few hours earlier, Musk warned that “any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended.”

He said that, with the company “rolling out widespread verification,” no warnings would be issued before suspension of accounts as was the practice earlier.

During the months-long process to acquire Twitter, Musk had said that the number of automated accounts (bots) was much higher than the 5 percent that the company claimed at the time.

This led to a delay in the purchase and was believed to be a tactic used by Musk to negotiate a lower sale price than the original offer of $44 billion, which he eventually paid. EFE
