Spacey pleads not guilty to seven sexual assault charges

London, Jan 13 (EFE).- Kevin Spacey pleaded not guilty to seven new charges of sexual assault at a London court on Friday.

The US actor has now been charged with 12 separate sexual offenses. His trial is scheduled to begin on June 6 at the Old Bailey, the Central Criminal Court for England and Wales.

The 63-year-old actor appeared by video link before the court, which presented him with the seven new charges relating to allegations from between 2001 and 2005.

Wearing glasses, a dark jacket and pink tie, the actor, who appeared under his full name Kevin Spacey Fowler, replied with a “not guilty” to each of the seven charges.

During the brief hearing, the court tentatively set a preliminary hearing for April 5. The trial in June is expected to last four weeks.

The actor remains on probation pending the court proceedings.

The seven latest charges relate to alleged sexual assaults or sexual activities without consent against a man in the UK from 2001 to 2005.

In July, Spacey pleaded not guilty in a British court to five sex offenses charged against him, allegedly committed against three men between 2005 and 2013 in the UK.

The actor, winner of two Oscars for the Usual Suspects (1995) and American Beauty (1999), was artistic director of the Old Vic theater in London from 2004 to 2015. EFE
