UN: At least 1,325 civilians killed in Russian invasion of Ukraine

Geneva, Apr 2 (EFE).- At least 1,325 civilians have died since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began over five weeks ago, including 120 children, the United Nations Office for Human Rights said on Saturday.

These fatalities have been verified and the actual death toll is feared to be much higher.

The number of civilians injured in the conflict amounts to 2,017, including 168 children, according to the UN.

The office said that most of the civilian casualties were a result of the use of explosives, including projectiles launched by heavy artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, missiles and aerial bombardment.

Attacks against civilians and non-military infrastructure in a conflict can constitute war crimes, according to international law. EFE
