Putin to visit India on Dec.6 to meet Modi

Moscow, Nov 26 (EFE) .- Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to India on Dec.6, where he will meet with the country’s prime minister, Narendra Modi, the Kremlin reported Friday.

The two leaders will discuss issues related to the future development of the privileged strategic partnership relations between the two countries, according to a statement by the Russian presidential office.

Putin and Modi will also exchange views on current international issues, including joint work within the framework of the G20, BRICS – Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa – and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the statement said.

In April, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited New Delhi, where he began preparations for Putin’s visit and discussed bilateral cooperation in the fields of atomic energy, defense, and ecology with his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

This is Putin’s second official foreign visit since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic last year.

In June, the Russian president traveled to Geneva, where he met with his US counterpart, Joe Biden, in an attempt to de-escalate tensions between the two countries. EFE
