Trouble knocks on PSG’s door with Neymar, Mbappe tensions

Paris, Sep 27 (EFE).- Things have apparently heated up between Paris Saint Germain’s Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, after four seasons of smooth sailing.

After being replaced in PSG’s 2-0 Ligue1 win against Montpellier this weekend, the Frenchman was captured on camera telling a teammate “That beggar won’t pass it on to me”, referring to the Brazilian.

The alleged rift between the two most costly signings in history, which was revealed by Canal+, surfaces at a critical moment for the French powerhouse.

The star-packed club, which have won their Ligue1 matches this season, are to take on Manchester City, in their second Champions League group stage clash.

PSG are seeking not only revenge for their last season’s semi-final defeat, but also to redeem themselves after the dull performance in their 1-1 draw against Club Brugge a couple of weeks ago.

Although the club tried to downplay the incident by showing the two players talking and laughing together after the game, the situation could be much worse in reality.

The arrival of Argentine star Lionel Messi has worsened an already existing, broader conflict, according to L’Équipe.

Mbappé, who has refused to extend his PSG contract that expires by season’s end, feels that he no longer fits in a squad where the Latin players gained importance.

The connection between the two players has been deteriorating as the number of passes and assists suggests.

That link was nearly instant, on and off the field, when they both arrived in Paris almost at the same time to inaugurate a new era, leaving out their then-teammate Edinson Cavani.
