Bus explosion in Voronezh leaves 2 dead, 17 injured

Moscow, Aug 13 (EFE).- Two people died and 17 were injured when a passenger bus exploded on Thursday night in the city of Vorozezh, some 520 kilometres south of Moscow, the cause of which is still unknown.

The region’s governor Alexander Gusev shared updates on his Telegram channel, where he reported the death of one of the injured in the hospital.

Russian authorities had earlier confirmed the death of the first victim of the explosion, a woman who suffered severe leg injuries.

Authorities have opened an investigation to clarify what led to the blast.

One of the causes considered at first was a gas explosion, but the coach service company told Russian media that its vehicles, including the bus in question, are equipped with diesel engines.

According to the company, the bus was brand new and had passed a technical inspection on August 6. EFE
