Spain’s King Felipe tests positive for coronavirus

Madrid, Feb 9 (EFE).- Spain’s King Felipe VI has tested positive for Covid-19 and is experiencing “mild symptoms,” Zarzuela Palace said in a statement Wednesday.

The King is “well” and will continue his institutional work from his residence in Madrid but will have to suspend official events and meetings for the next seven days, the palace added.

Felipe VI was meant to host a meeting with president of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zeljko Komsic, followed by lunch on Wednesday.

He will also not be able to present the King of Spain Prize in Economics to economist Manuel Arellano nor meet the CEO of Airbus, Guillaume Faury, at the palace, both scheduled for Thursday.

As for the rest of the family, Queen Letizia and Princess Sofia are not experiencing symptoms and will not have to quarantine, in line with the current health guidelines. EFE
