Cazateatro Announces Its 2021-2022 Season

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — After more than a year with only virtual presentations, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Cazateatro Bilingual Theatre Group returns to the stage with its new 2021-2022 season, which will be composed of four plays and four cultural events: “Latin Fest 2021,” “Ni siquiera con un Dedo” (Not even with a Finger,) “Day of the Dead Reverse Parade,” “Pastorela: The Last Christmas,” “Christmas Fiesta,” “Afro-Latino Week,” “We Women Do It Better Than Men,” and “The House of Bernarda Alba.”
“Every year is an adventure for Cazateatro,” said Dorimar Ferrer, Executive Director of Cazateatro. “Our work keeps growing and you wonder why you keep doing this, but then you meet with each family or volunteers who shake your hand or who enjoy what we do, and that is why you continue nonstop, for the love of our culture and for the right to open paths”, she added.
“It has been a real adventure for us to work with people of different nationalities and to be able to show people, through the performing arts, that we really are not that different. We are very grateful to all those who have supported and been part of Cazateatro, whether acting, as volunteers, sponsors or simply as spectators,” stated Mónica Sánchez, the cofounder & Artistic Director of Cazateatro.

The eternal battle between good and evil with a small twist.
What if Lucifer was a woman? Will it be an advantage to ruin Christmas?
Lucifer will try with all her trickery to confuse the shepherds, so they don’t get on time to Bethlehem to worship Baby Jesus. Anything could happen when a woman is in charge of hell.
Everyone knows that good triumphs over evil, but this time it seems that this will not happen this time.

Latin Fest 2021 at Overton Square – September 25, 2021 | 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
In order to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Cazateatro Bilingual Theatre Group will bring the culture and vitality of the Latino Community to the beautiful Midtown area in Overton Square.
Día de los Muertos Reverse Parade in Collaboration with the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art – October 23, 2021 | 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
A big Day of the Dead celebration! The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art and Cazateatro Bilingual Theatre Group hold this annual event where families are invited to honor ancestors and celebrate the cycle of life and death. To ensure everyone stays safe, they’ll host the “reverse parade” again this year. There will be floats and altars in Overton Park, and visitors will drive through the park to enjoy the celebration. An audio tour will be featured, and special hands-on art kits for families to do at home will also be available. Admission is free for the whole community.
Christmas Fiesta! – December 18, 2021
This Christmas, Cazateatro Bilingual Theatre Group and Opera Memphis will present a Christmas Fiesta. Come to enjoy the Christmas traditions of Latin America and the Caribbean, learn about our parrandas, posadas, piñatas, and more. Enjoy traditional Christmas music in Spanish, Latin food, and make a poinsettia or a small piñata.
Afro-Latino Week – February 25-28, 2022
The “Afro-Latino Week” will be in honor of “Black History Month,” connecting the valuable contribution of Afro-Latinos in America and Latin America.

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Luego de más de un año con presentaciones virtuales únicamente, debido a la pandemia del coronavirus, Cazateatro Bilingual Theatre Group vuelve a los escenarios con su nueva temporada 2021-2022, que estará compuesta de cuatro obras teatrales y cuatro eventos culturales: “Latin Fest 2021”, “Ni siquiera con un Dedo”, “Día de los Muertos Reverse Parade”, “Pastorela: La Última Navidad”, “Christmas Fiesta”, “Afro-Latino Week”, “We Women Do It Better Than Men” (Las Mujeres lo Hacemos Mejor que Los Hombres) y “La Casa de Bernalda Alba”.
“Cada año para Cazateatro es una aventura”, dijo Dorimar Ferrer, directora ejecutiva y actriz de Cazateatro. “El trabajo crece y te preguntas por qué sigues haciendo esto, pero te encuentras con cada familia o voluntarios que te dan la mano o que disfrutan lo que hacemos, y por eso sigues, por el amor a nuestra cultura y al derecho de abrir caminos”, agregó.
“Ha sido una verdadera aventura para nosotras el trabajar con personas de diferentes nacionalidades y el poder demostrar a la gente, a través de las artes escénicas, que realmente no somos tan diferentes. Estamos muy agradecidas con todos aquellos que han apoyado y han sido parte de Cazateatro, ya sea actuando, como voluntarios, patrocinadores o simplemente como espectadores”, expresó Mónica Sánchez, la directora artística de Cazateatro.

Latin Fest 2021 en Overton Square – 25 de septiembre del 2021 | Desde las 12:00 pm. hasta las 6:00 p.m.
Para celebrar el Mes de la Herencia Hispana, Cazateatro traerá la cultura y la vitalidad de la comunidad latina a la hermosa área de Midtown en Overton Square.
Desfile Inverso del Día de los Muertos en colaboración con el Museo de Arte Brooks de Memphis – 23 de octubre del 2021 | De 11:00 a.m. a 4:00 p.m.
¡Una gran celebración del Día de los Muertos! El Museo de Arte Brooks de Memphis y el Grupo de Teatro Bilingüe Cazateatro realizan este evento anual en donde se invita a las familias a honrar a los antepasados y celebrar el ciclo de la vida y la muerte. Para garantizar que todos estén a salvo, se volverá a organizar el “desfile inverso” este año. Habrá carrozas y altares en Overton Park, y los visitantes conducirán por el parque para disfrutar de la celebración. Se ofrecerá un recorrido en audio y también habrá kits especiales de arte para las familias. La entrada es gratuita para toda la comunidad.
¡Fiesta de Navidad! – 18 de diciembre del 2021
Esta Navidad, Cazateatro Bilingual Theatre Group y Opera Memphis tendrán una gran Fiesta de Navidad. Ven a disfrutar de las tradiciones navideñas de América Latina y el Caribe, aprende sobre nuestras parrandas, posadas, piñatas y mucho más. Disfruta de la música tradicional navideña en español, así como de la comida latina, etc.
Semana Afrolatina – 25-28 de febrero del 2022
La “Semana Afrolatina” será en honor al “Mes de la Historia Afroamericana y Afrolatina”, para conectar la valiosa contribución de los afrolatinos en Estados Unidos y América Latina.
