Russia test-launches Sarmat intercontinental missile

Moscow, Apr 20 (EFE).- Russia on Wednesday test-launched its Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile from the Plesetsk cosmodrome and reached its destination 6,000 km away.

The televised launch was presided over by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who took the opportunity to issue a warning to those who “try to threaten” his country.

The Sarmat “reliably guarantees the security of Russia from external threats and will make those who (…) try to threaten our country think twice,” Putin said referring to the war in Ukraine and the retaliatory sanctions imposed by the West.

It “is capable of overcoming all modern means of anti-missile defense,” Putin said about the missile that will enter service once the test program is complete. EFE
