Tako the red-legged partridge predicts Spain will move on to Euro 2020 final
Valencia, Spain, Jul 6 (EFE).- A red-legged partridge named Tako predicted Tuesday that the Spanish Euro 2020 squad will beat Italy and move on to the final of the European championships.
The prediction comes as anticipation builds up for the clash of the two football nations at Wembley and stars like Italy’s Lorenzo Insigne and Spain’s Pedri prepare to fight for the acclaimed European title.
Italy remain favourites to come on top against Spain, despite the absence of Italian defender Leonardo Spinazzola, one of the Azzurri’s best performers throughout the tournament, after an Achilles tendon injury he sustained during quarter finals.
However, the red-legged partridge ruled the young underdogs Spain will overcome their notorious difficulties in front of goal to make it past the Italians to take on either England or Denmark in the Wembley final.
Tako has so far correctly predicted other Spain Euro 2020 games, by eating more from the feeder under the red and yellow banner rather than the Swiss flag, or eating only “a little bit more” under Spain than Poland, hinting at a tied game, according to its owner.
The partridge is named “octopus” in Japanese, in homage to Paul the Octopus, the well-known animal oracle that predicted Spain’s FIFA World Cup final victory in 2010.
“Thanks to the song of the red-legged partridge, the partridge of Spain, we once again believe in our national team,” said the owner, celebrating that Spain can “get ready to enjoy another final,” but warning that the animal “could also be wrong.” EFE
