Bollywood star urges fans to stop bursting firecrackers in cinemas
New Delhi, Nov 28 (EFE).- Bollywood star Salman Khan asked fans to stop bursting firecrackers in movie theaters after posting a video showing people lighting crackers in a crowded cinema screening the actor’s latest film.
“Request all my fans not to take fire crackers inside the auditorium as it could prove to be a huge fire hazard thereby endangering your lives and also others,” Khan said on Instagram late Saturday.
Khan also urged theater owners “not to allow fire crackers to be taken inside the cinema and security should stop them from doing so at entry point.”
“Enjoy the film by all means but please please avoid this. This is my request to all my fans… Thank you,” he added.
Khan, whose latest movie “Antim: The Final Truth” was released on Friday, also posted a video – that quickly went viral on Sunday – showing firecrackers going off inside a crowded movie theater amid cheering fans while his film was being screened in the background.
In the movie, the Indian actor plays the character of a Sikh police official pitted against a gangster in the southwestern Indian city of Pune.
Fires, collapses and other similar accidents are frequent in India, often due to the precarious state of infrastructure and a lack of maintenance, factors that are fueled by corruption and illegal practices.
According to the latest official data, 13,099 fires were recorded in India in 2018 in government buildings, schools, residences and other places, in which 12,748 people died and 777 were injured. EFE
