Isak joins Newcastle United from Real Sociedad
Sports Desk, Aug 26 (EFE).- Sweden international Alexander Isak on Friday joined Premier League club Newcastle United from Real Sociedad for a reported fee of around 70 million euros.
Both clubs confirmed the move in statements, but did not disclose the final fee for the 22-year-old forward.
“I’m delighted to have it done. It was a big, big decision for me but it is a decision I am really happy with,” Isak said in a statement from Newcastle United.
“It is a great, historical club that I think anyone would like to play for, with amazing fans. They were a big part of why I came here — and also the club’s project, which is one that I really believe in.”
Newcastle’s recent takeover by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund has helped fuel a shopping spree during the summer transfer window that has seen the Magpies bring in the likes of Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Sven Botman.
Eddie Howe, the head coach, added: “I’m very excited that Alexander has chosen to join us. He is an outstanding talent who is capable of making a big contribution to the team.
“He is technically very good, with a mix of attributes that will complement us, but he is also at a great age to grow with this club.”EFE
