Future of agriculture to be discussed in new edition of CoFoE Conversations

Madrid, May 25 (EFE).- The uncertain future of European agriculture amid the war in Ukraine and other challenges will be discussed on Thursday in a new forum held in the Spanish city of Granada.

The CoFoE Conversations forum, a project by Spain’s news agency Efe and the European Parliament, aims to bring the debate on the future challenges of the European Union to Spanish regions.

The debate will take place in Granada’s University Carmen de la Victoria and will be moderated by Belén Ortiz,Efe delegate in Granada.

The Andalusia region accounts for 20% of Spain’s cultivated area and nearly 30% of the national agricultural production.

The southern region is also leading the development of organic farming and is a world leader in the production of olive oil.

The forum aims to address, among other issues, whether Andalusia can become a European laboratory to contribute to the development of innovative and sustainable agriculture.

It will also analyze the impact of the Ukrainian war on instability in the field, which calls for urgent aid given the increase in prices and low profitability.

The forum will also discuss obstacles to generational change in rural areas and the role of women in agricultural and livestock activities.

The forum will be broadcasted on Efe Agency’s YouTube channel, within the framework of the debates around the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE). EFE
