De Bruyne fires Manchester City to 1-0 win over Chelsea

Sports Desk, Jan 15 (EFE).- Manchester City on Saturday defeated their closest rival, Chelsea 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium to cement their lead in the Premier League table.

The home side dominated most of the first half, but they were unable to find the back of the net.

It was Kevin de Bruyne who broke the scoreless deadlock with 20 minutes to spare on a right-legged drive from outside the area that beat Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The win brings Manchester City’s tally to 56 points, 13 points clear of the Blues, 22 games into the season

The defeat endangers Chelsea’s second spot on the table, as they are just one point ahead of third-placed Liverpool, who will take on Brentford on Sunday with another game in hand. EFE
