Arsenal hand Leicester 2nd straight home defeat

Sports Desk, Feb 28 (efe-epa).- Arsenal on Sunday prevailed 3-1 over Leicester City in Premier League action, handing the Foxes their second home defeat in a row, having lost to Slavia Praha in the Europa League.

Leicester seemed to be on the right path to recover from Thursday’s 0-2 defeat when they took the lead in the sixth minute on the strength of a powerful shot by Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans after an individual effort down the right side.

The Foxes, who won their previous two league matches, held onto their lead until the 39th minute, when Brazilian defender David Luis headed home a cross by his fellow countryman Willian from a set piece.

Two minutes into the first-half injury time, Arsenal took the lead for good after Alexandre Lacazette converted a penalty kick confirmed by VAR, which had overturned a penalty kick awarded to the Foxes earlier in the game.

In the 52nd minute, Nicolas Pepe rounded off Arsenal’s win an assist from Willian.

After the win, Arsenal are 10th in the Premier League standings, while Leicester hold the third spot with 49 points.
