The Eternal Pink takes Dubai by storm as ultra-rare gem heads for June auction
Dubai, UAE, May 22 (EFE).- The world’s most unique pink diamond, ‘The Eternal Pink’, was presented by Sotheby’s Dubai on Monday ahead of its much awaited auction next month.
The gem was in Dubai before traveling to Singapore, Shanghai, Taiwan and Geneva ahead of Sotheby’s New York Magnificent Jewels auction on June 8.
“We are here today to unveil two very exquisite stones,” Feryal Ahmadi, CEO at Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, told EFE. “The first one is ‘The Eternal Pink’, which is a vivid diamond that is considered the most unique pink diamond in the market today.”
According to Sotheyby’s, the 10.57 carats cushion-shaped purplish pink diamond is “a treasure of nature.”
The gemstone has been graded ‘Fancy Vivid’ due to its deep and changing hue, which was achieved after artisans at Diacor worked for over six months on the rough stone to garner the diamond’s electric “bubblegum” tone.
The second gem that was on show in Dubai was ‘The Estrela de Fura’
“It’s a 55 carat ruby which is considered the most valuable and largest ruby that has ever gone to auction,” Ahmadi told EFE.
“This was on the Dubai diamond exchange for last year in its rough form and we are very happy to welcome it back again in its cut and polished form today,” Ahmadi added.
Sotheby’s is expecting The Eternal Pink to fetch around $35 million and The Estrela de Fura around $30 million.EFE
