Ukraine’s Hostomel imposes week-long curfew

Kyiv, Apr 7 (EFE).- Authorities in the Ukrainian town of Hostomel imposed a curfew on Thursday to ensure secure and reliable infrastructure before inhabitants return.

The curfew came into effect at 6.00 am on Thursday and is set to last until April 14, Ukraine Now wrote in a Telegram message.

“It is prohibited to remain on the street and in other public places during this period, as well as travel by transport or move on foot,” it said.

The measure was taken to make the infrastructure safer before the return of the town’s inhabitants, according to the message.

Hostomel was liberated from Russian troops after 35 days of non-stop fighting, which left more than 400 people missing, head of the military administration Taras Dumenko estimated.

Hostomel, located northwestern the capital Kyiv, near Irpin and Bucha, has approximately 17,000 inhabitants and is best known for its international freight airport.EFE
