Verstappen sets pace at Styrian GP practice

Spielberg, Austria, Jun 25 (EFE).- Max Verstappen was quickest in the second practice session at the Styria Grand Prix in Austria on Friday.

The Red Bull driver’s best lap at the team’s home circuit, the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, stopped the clock at 1m05.412s.

McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo and Alpine’s Esteban Ocon recorded the second and third fastest times in FP2 while Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes logged the fourth.

Verstappen is currently top of the leaderboard going into the eighth Grand Prix of the season, 12 points ahead of second-place Hamilton.

The Brit is gunning for his record-breaking eighth world title but faces a tight title race with Verstappen.

Completing the top-10 times in Friday’s FP2 session were: Alpine’s Fernando Alonso, Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel, Mclaren’s Lando Norris, Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll, Red Bull’s Sergio Perez and Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi.EFE
