Thousands gather in Madrid to protest Nato summit

Madrid, Jun 26 (EFE).- Anti-Nato demonstrators took to the streets in Madrid on Sunday, ahead of next week’s defense alliance summit in the Spanish capital.

The Spanish government delegation in Madrid said 2,200 participated in the march, which was summoned by the state platform for peace and the state platform “NATO, no.”

Protesters chanted slogans such as “No to Nato” and held up banners with “Peace,” “No to war,” and “ We’ll not pay for your wars.”

Willie Meyer, a spokesman for the state platform for peace told Efe ahead of the march that fighting for peace has become a “necessity” when Nato has become an “obstacle” for peace.
