Sydney, Australia, Nov 20 (EFE).- Thousands of Australians on Saturday took to the streets of several cities to protest Covid-19 measures and vaccination mandates.
During the protests, part of so-called The Worldwide Rally for Freedom, demonstrators held banners reading “Jabbing children is genocide” and “No vax mandates,” among other messages.
Over 70% of Australians have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
Authorities have made vaccines mandatory for some sectors including education and healthcare, although rules differ from state to state.
The rallies were peaceful in cities such as Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Similar protests in September turned violent in Melbourne.
Australia has reported over 196,000 infections and 1,933 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. EFE
