137 Arrested in Cockfight Ring in Little Rock
SEVIER COUNTY, AR (KSLA/LPL) — Oficiales de Juego y Pesca de Arkansas, del Distrito A4, asistieron a la Oficina del Alguacil del Condado de Sevier, a la Policía del Estado de Arkansas, al Servicio Forestal de EE.UU., a la Patrulla Fronteriza y a la agencia federal ICE, con un total de 56 oficiales, con una orden de búsqueda en una operación de pelea de gallos en el condado de Sevier.
Los arrestos ocurrieron en el condado de Sevier al norte de De Queen, a unas 125 millas al suroeste de Little Rock. El alguacil del condado de Sevier, Robert Gentry, dice que las autoridades fueron informadas de que se llevaría a cabo una pelea de gallos en ese lugar, y oficiales de varias agencias participaron en la operación, en la cual se arrestó a 137 personas, incluyendo espectadores, organizadores, entrenadores de gallos y apostadores.

SEVIER COUNTY, AR (KSLA) — Arkansas Game and Fish Officers from District A4 assisted the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, the Arkansas State Police, the US Forest Service, the Border Patrol and the federal agency ICE, with a total of 56 officers, with a search warrant in a cockfighting operation in Sevier County.
The arrests occurred in Sevier County north of De Queen, about 125 miles southwest of Little Rock. Sevier County Sheriff Robert Gentry says authorities were informed that a cockfight ring would be held there, and officials from several agencies participated in the operation, in which 137 people were arrested, including spectators, organizers, trainers and bettors.
Authorities say that more than 200 live birds were captured, some of which had visible wounds, reportedly for fighting. Dead birds lying in a pit were found in the scene on Whistle Stop Road.
Gentry says the cockfight ring investigation was an 18-month operation.
