Elton John to headline Glastonbury in final UK concert

London, Dec 2 (EFE).- Elton John is to perform for the last time in the United Kingdom as the headliner of the iconic 2023 Glastonbury music festival, organizers announced on Friday.

“We are incredibly excited to announce that the one and only Elton John will headline the Pyramid Stage,” the festival organizers announced on social media.

The statement added that the performance “will be the final UK show of his last ever tour.”

The singer, author of hits like Rocket Man and Don’t go breaking my heart, is scheduled to perform on Sunday night as the closing act of the festival which will run from June 21 to 25.

“I couldn’t be more excited,” Elton John said in a statement following the announcement. “As the end of my Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour comes into view, there is no more fitting way to say goodbye to my British fans.”

The singer has performances slated in Australia, New Zealand, and several European countries, in early 2023 ahead of his Glastonbury gig.

“This will be the final UK show of Elton’s last-ever tour, so we will be closing the Festival and marking this huge moment in both of our histories with the mother of all send-offs,” Glastonbury co-organizer Emily Eavis said on Twitter.

This year’s edition of the festival saw Paul McCartney and Billie Eilish as headliners of the famed British event. EFE vg/aef/ch
