Local Students Celebrate Literacy Through “I Love Reading” Initiative
MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com/LPL) — Cientos celebraron la alfabetización infantil el miércoles mientras los estudiantes de todo el sur mostraban su amor por la lectura.
Es el tercer año de la iniciativa “I Love Reading”, encabezada por la organizacion sin fines de lucro “Greater Memphis Media”. La organización dona libros culturalmente sensibles para niños de kindergarten a segundo grado para leer durante el año escolar y el verano.
Su fundador dijo que es imprescindible involucrar a los estudiantes en áreas marginadas sobre la importancia de la lectura.
Brian Clay, fundador de GMM, celebró con niños en St. Teresa Little Flower Catholic School, Corning Elementary y Douglass Elementary.
Dijo que el paso más importante para convertirse en un ciudadano productivo es tener una comunidad que entienda la importancia de la alfabetización, independientemente de su edad o estado académico.

MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) — Hundreds celebrated child literacy Wednesday as students across the Mid-South showed their love for reading.
It’s the third year for the “I Love Reading” initiative, spear-headed by non-profit “Greater Memphis Media.” The organization donates culturally sensitive books for kids in kindergarten through second grade to read throughout the school year and summer.
Its founder said it’s imperative to engage students in underserved areas about the importance of reading.
Brian Clay, founder of GMM, celebrated with kids at St. Teresa Little Flower Catholic School, Corning Elementary, and Douglass Elementary.
He said the most important step to becoming a productive citizen is to have a community that understands the importance of literacy, regardless of age or academic status.
